ClearTrial Releases Web-based Clinical Trial Software for Budgeting, Resource Planning
Oakbrook Terrace, IL — November 13, 2006
. ClearTrial, LLC announced today the general availability of version 2.0 of ClearTrial® Plan and ClearTrial® Source, ClearTrial’s clinical trial software that helps biopharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations (CROs) work more effectively to plan, budget, outsource, and optimize the operational design of clinical trials.
ClearTrial 2.0 takes usability and flexibility to an entirely new level, said Michael Soenen, Managing Partner at ClearTrial. Clinical operations and outsourcing professionals can now have a planning system that supports even the latest clinical development and outsourcing strategies. The response from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive.
ClearTrial conducted an extensive beta program in which the software was tested with approximately 20 existing customers who used the web-based software to weigh different development and outsourcing strategies, generate clinical study budgets, resource forecasts, and produce target performance metrics, and milestone date forecasts.
Our therapeutic groups were thrilled with not only the completeness of the clinical plan we produced with ClearTrial, but also with how quickly we produced it, said the Associate Director of Clinical Systems of one beta customer. Their reaction made quite an impression with our management team.
New Features and Functions in ClearTrial version 2.0 ClearTrial version 2.0 is an entirely new product. It was rewritten from the ground-up as a native, web-based application using many of today’s most advanced web 2.0 technologies. However, technical platform was not the only change. ClearTrial has included even more functional enhancements in the general availability release of the software than previously announced on September 19, 2006 when the beta version was unveiled at the IIR Cost and Contracts Management conference in Scottsdale, AZ. Enhancements new to the 2.0 GA release include
- Make vs. Buy Analysis. With a few mouse clicks, you can compare the cost and timeline differences between conducting a study internally vs. outsourcing it.
- Monthly budget reports for each service provider that works on the study to help clinical and finance people to more accurately forecast monthly accruals for multiple service providers.
- Improved Online Help provides quick access to over 125 assumptions, cost drivers and specifications that users can control.
- Improved support for multiple outsourcing strategies including Functional Service Providers (FSP), full-service outsourcing, hybrid studies, as well as studies conducted internally by the sponsor
Technical Architecture of 2.0 ClearTrial® version 2.0 is a J2EE-compliant, native web-based application that provides biopharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organizations (CROs) a globally accessible clinical planning and outsourcing system. Because it runs as a hosted application, ClearTrial customers can save significant IT infrastructure costs, and require only a web browser to access the system. For larger organizations, ClearTrial can also be deployed behind their firewall. The software runs over an Oracle database and uses Web 2.0 technologies like AJAX to provide the ease-of-use and clinical intelligence that are uniquely characteristic of the ClearTrial software.
